If you wish to call local number dial +48 71 (and then the number). You can also call from many public phones that are located in the city center and operate with phone card that can be purchased in kiosks and post offices.

In Poland all sockets and plugs use European type connections 230V AC, 50 Hz

TAXES:
The majority of goods and services are subject to 23% value added tax (some of them are subject to 8% tax).
You can look for the TAX FREE signs in stores and after filling out few forms and spending more than 200zl, your VAT will be refunded after you'll leave Poland (DOES NOT APPLY TO EU CITIZENS)

DRINKING:
Drinking alcohol in public places is forbidden in Poland except for designated areas and outdoor restaurants.
A blood alcohol level of 0.2 parts per thousand is the upper limit for driving, but remember drinking under the influence is a criminal offense so DON'T DRINK AND DRIVE.

TAP WATER:
Do not drink water straight from tap. The water in Poland might not be safe if drunk before boiling. There are plenty of places where you can buy bottled mineral water that is obtained from delicious Polish water sources.
